March & April Happenings!

Our last two sport shows of the year are this month. We will be at the State Fairgrounds for the Milwaukee Sentinel sport show in Milwaukee Wisconsin March 9-18, 2007 and The Greater Northwest Sport Show at the MinneapolisConvention Center March 27-April 1, 2007. Billy Dougherty and Scott Matthews will be in Milwaukee (Billy from March 9-13) and Tom Dougherty will be in Minneapolis March 27-April 1. This is a great opportunity to come and visit Rainy Lake Houseboats and pick the brains of the Dougherty brothers and Scott Matthews. We’ll see you at the show!

Our staff has started the preparation work for the coming season. The mechanical staff is busy remodeling houseboats in our maintenance shop. When the houseboat comes out it has a brand new interior and new exterior. Our staff does a remarkable job!

Casa Loma is filling quickly. Just a few dates in June and July left. Don’t miss the chance to stay in Rainy Lake’s finest on land vacation facility. The Chairman II has had a cancellation in early July; this is the first time in nearly twenty years we have been able to offer the July 1-14 dates to all of our guests. We open for the season on Saturday May 12, 2007. The Minnesota walleye season opens on this day also. The Ontariowalleye opener is Saturday May 19, 2007. We know that most of our guests coming in May and early June are fisherman but birding is becoming a large activity in May and June. May brings the spring migration of both waterfowl and song birds that left last fall. On June 1 and 2 Voyageurs National Park offers Birders Rendezvous 2007. If you are starting your trip on June 2, 2007 you may want to come to International Falls on Friday June 1. Jim Williams will be giving a birding presentation “Bird Photos and Stories” free to the public from 7:30-8:30 PM.
